So it looks like the episodic reviews are going to be as simplified now. I have no time to look for pictures or even write because I have too many things to do (for example, watch the animes that I'm here to review for all of you).
This episode starts off fun, as usual, with the fact that Kuroki forgot to bring her textbook. Now, since she's so unpopular, she gets paranoid, saying that she can't share textbooks with the person next door because he's a guy, and secondly she doesn't know anyone outside of her own class.
Basically, my secondary school life in a nutshell.
So, Kuroki decides to blend in with the crowd by going into Stealth 'Moko in a hopes of surviving the class for the next fifty minutes. Her plan immediately fails with she gets caught by the teacher and scolded.
After school, she completely curses out the old man. She tries to go home, but finds out that her umbrella had been swiped. One inner monologue cursing out about how despicable people can be, being able to get away with swiping umbrellas and STILL be able to get a date later... she finds out her umbrella was in another umbrella stand.
Tomoki Kuroki #BestInTheWorld
On the way back home, Kuroki finds a river that's about to overflow and gets excited (God I love her), but she gets taken away by a random passer-by... who then decides to scold her for approaching an overflowing river, hitting her with a 'even junior high students know not to approach it' line. Ouch. Back on her road to home, her umbrella breaks and she is forced to run into shelter... with two other dudes.
Uh oh.
One of the guys talks to her.
Double uh oh.
She starts panicking in her head and tries to find something to say to him. The only she can come up with are 'It's raining', a basketball joke and a toilet joke.
Smooth.
So she leaves for a while, comes back realizing the two guys have disappeared and decides to sleep at the shelter. Unknown to her, the two guys came back and were nice enough to drop an umbrella for her. She wakes up to find an umbrella next to her, over-thinking that she's swiping someone's umbrella.
After all that, she still didn't realize that the boy was being nice to her and she wants that to happen. Newsflash, Kuroki, it happened and I still wanna be your friend.
BREAK!
Tomoko's brother, Tomoki, returns home, wet because his umbrella broke. Course, Tomoko decides to bother him by not letting him get a towel. Smooth, sis.
When she finds out her brother's got a cold, she snaps, knowing that she has to go to school and not him, and the fact that her 2nd period is P.E.
'Kuroki no Basket'. Nice name. Anyways, she doesn't get picked to be on anyone's teams and decides not to participate.
You know, I can relate to this, because no one ever picks me to be on any teams except for as a last resort. Then again, all I am good at is basketball. Hah... wait.
So she overhears a classmate about a 'psychology test', and Kuroki finds out she's an unwanted virgin. Joyous.
Time for another fantasizing moment with Kuroki!
Well, she fantasizes some Ghost in the Shell deal. She has her sights set on a target and was about to pull the trigger... until her real self gets hit by a basketball. She passes out and has to go home... in which she admits she successfully faked her illness, but she really DID pass out.
Now once she's home, she decides it'd be a good idea to try and get Tomoki's cold, but when she gets caught by the mom, she outright lies and says she's nursing him to health... in which she is now forced to do.
The mom later asks Tomoko to answer the door, and finds two lovely young girls from Tomoki's school who wants to give him a handout. She outright bawls at him when she doesn't get any visitors and he does.
Episode Review:
I absolutely loved the message that was driven in this episode. The fact that Tomoko didn't know someone was actually being nice to her really annoyed me. That psychology test part really didn't make any sense though. I absolutely adored Tomoko in this episode.
Story: 7.5/10
